Yesterday I got a twofold surprise in the mail. I participated in the winter tatting exchange on the InTatters forum last month, and had fun picking out a gift to send to my partner in Germany, and practicing my German by sending a note without any English.
So, my surprises. First, my tatting exchange arrived from nctatter:
She sent an interesting mix of Christmas, Valentines and Easter. Her tatted snowflake is beautiful, out of size 20 Lizbeth thread, and very nicely executed. I really don’t mind at all that it came late, I understand that life sometimes gets in the way and the exchange was fun even if I hadn’t gotten anything.
Then, completely out of the blue and on the same day, I received a second gift from Piney Woods Tatter, who was sad that I hadn’t received one from my partner yet. Thank you very much for that kind gesture. I will be happy to send you something in return later this week.
Thank you both!
For my exchange partner, snowflake77, I sent her a new Lizbeth thread holder and three balls of Lizbeth thread. I forgot to take a picture before I put it in the mail, so this pic is the thread holder my Mom gave me for Christmas:
It has been a fun exchange, my second on this forum, and I will definitely participate in others in the future. It is fun to pick out a little something special to send to someone who shares a common interest, and to wait expectantly to receive something in the mail. I find it interesting to see what other people send, and to experiment with new tools or threads or whatnot that I maybe wouldn’t have purchased myself. Maybe even find a new outlet for tatting that I had never considered!Happy tatting, Heather
