Beginning Tatting Class – February 19th
Learn this old fashion thread knot method from an experienced teacher.
Tatting is a beautiful and time-honored method of lacemaking, and can be used for creating doilies, jewelry, crazy quilting blocks, collars, trims for table runners, sleeves, shade pulls, wedding veils, and much, much more.
What we’re going to learn:
The focus of this class is to introduce a non-tatter to the basic stitch that is the foundation of all tatting. Other topics include an overview of the history of tatting and some modern possibilities.
- Winding your shuttle
- Forming the double stitch on a chain
- Forming the double stitch on a ring
- Making Picots

What we’re going to learn:
This is the second half of a beginning class. Students were introduced to the double stitch in the first class, and will continue working on the double stitch along with these topics:
- Review of rings, chains and picots
- Joining to picots
- How to add thread
- “Reverse Work”
- Intro of how to read patterns (abbreviated and diagrammatic)
