This is another super easy hairclip for a little girl. Or a big girl, if you like. These are the first hair clips I made, and the mom who commissioned them asked for one more for a Christmas present. This one is much smaller, only about 2″ across. Since the whole barrette is so much smaller, I had to make a much smaller decoration, and decided to keep it on the button this time.
The pattern is simply 15 picots separated by two double stitches. Then I wove the picots into each other all crochet-like. Here’s a closeup:
Cute? The mom who commissioned this sure thought so, and oohed and aahed over it. This is my motif #9 in my 25 Motif Challenge.
My girls are all grown and don’t use things like this in thier hair anymore. a pity. but maybe it could be make into a pin??????/
Heather, I just stumbled upon your site & LOVE it !!! I’ve been tatting for many years, yet your Absolute Beginner Series is something I can recommend to all & come back for more.
Your interweaving of picots in this hairclip is so creative ; and easy too ! And the effect is spectacular.
Thanks for sharing 🙂
I’ve added your blog to my reading list, but will be back to browse your archives.
